The Joan Jonker 'Mollie and Nellie' Award
Larraine’s letter outlinging why she is such an exceptional friend: I would like to nominate my dear friend Hazel Rowen for the Joan Jonker ‘Mollie and Nellie’ Award for Outstanding Friendship. Even though she has been through a really tough time emotionally herself, she has shown great courage and dignity to hold her family together and always be there to provide love, support and time. She has helped me through a difficult time, and has shown outstanding friendship and loyalty to other friends also. She always puts other before herself and deserves some form of recognition for being the marvellous person she is. She lost her mother in tragic circumstances, but being the only girl with four brothers, remained the strong one to support her family. She works full time and has two sons. Her marriage broke down, she has a poorly brother and a sick friend. Times are difficult financially, but she is always there, with a smile and words of encouragement for all who know her. She is a truly remarkable person with a heart of gold.

In issue 10 we announced this special award for outstanding friendship in exceptional circumstances. We are delighted to reveal that the winner is Hazel Rowen, who was nominated by Larraine Woodstock. A beautiful engraved crystal vase is on the way to Hazel.  |
